GuideSnap ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. What We Collect

When you use GuideSnap, we may collect the following:

• Account information: Your email address when you sign up or join the waitlist.
• Guide content: Screenshots, step descriptions, and guide text that you create using the extension.
• Voiceover audio: If you choose to record with voiceover, your audio is transcribed and the transcript is used to generate guide instructions. Audio is not stored — only the transcript is processed.
• Usage data: Basic information about how you interact with the dashboard (e.g. guides created, steps captured).

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and improve the GuideSnap service
• To generate AI-powered guide descriptions using your captured steps and voiceover
• To store and display your guides in your dashboard
• To send you product updates if you've joined the waitlist (you can unsubscribe at any time)

3. How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a GDPR-compliant cloud database provider hosted on AWS. We use row-level security to ensure only you can access your own data.

Screenshots are stored in Supabase Storage and are only accessible to your account.

4. Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We use the following third-party services to operate GuideSnap:

• Supabase — database and file storage
• Anthropic (Claude) — AI guide generation
• OpenAI (Whisper) — voiceover transcription
• Vercel — website hosting

Each of these providers has their own privacy policy and data handling practices.

5. Chrome Extension Permissions

The GuideSnap Chrome extension requests the following permissions:

• activeTab / tabs: To capture screenshots of the page you're recording on
• scripting: To detect clicks and capture step data on web pages
• storage: To temporarily store steps and session data locally in your browser
• tabCapture: To capture screenshots of visible tab content

The extension only activates when you explicitly start a recording session. It does not run in the background, track your browsing, or collect data outside of active recording sessions.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your guides at any time
• Unsubscribe from waitlist emails at any time

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated guides, screenshots, and personal data are permanently deleted within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

GuideSnap is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or a notice on our website. Continued use of GuideSnap after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
